2. Elderberry Syrup

Elderberry syrup is one of those omg we’re getting sick and need something stat things to have in your home.

Use daily when seasonal threats are high to keep your immune system healthy and strong, and double down on dosing if you start to get sick.

  • Elderberries are naturally high in vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B6, iron and potassium, among several other essential nutrients. They provide cold and flu relief due to its powerful immune-boosting properties.

  • Research published in the journal of International Medical Research suggests that when it's used within the first 48 hours of onset of symptoms, the plant may even help relieve and shorten the duration of cold and flu.'

If you are giving elderberry syrup or herbal supplement to a baby under the age of 1, read the ingredients list to ensure there is no added honey to it

3. Colloidal Silver

Colloidal silver - this is not used as commonly, but something I’m glad I have on hand. Bonus points, its safe and effective for your dogs too.

  • Colloidal silver can be used for a number of things that commonly up with little kids that can save you a trip to the doctor's office, like ear infections or eye infections!

  • It can act as an antiviral. antibiotic and antifungal and perfect for short-term use and low doses.

Where to find: my favorite colloidal silver is from drgreenmom.com, save 10% with code "holvibewellness10". I’d also recommend this colloidal silver option from Amazon

4. Cool-Mist Humidifier

Grab a cool-mist humidifier (that can use essential oils) for every bedroom - especially your baby’s! My fave is the Dawn humidifier from doTERRA, but there are some good options on Amazon too.

  • Great for the winter and dry climates to add moisture back into the room.

  • Respiratory symptoms can worsen in dry air can lead to a dry, unproductive cough. Humidity in the air can get more moisture into the airways, which can make a cough more productive and release trapped or sticky phlegm.

  • Bonus points for using a humidifier that can have essential oils added to it! My favorite to add is Breathe® essential oil blend.

5. Nebulizer

A nebulizer is one of those things you pray you never have to use, but you’re so grateful you have one when it’s 2am and your toddler is wheezing and struggling to breathe.

  • An at-home nebulizer and saline (or other) solution are a fast and effective way to deliver respiratory relief. especially when your toddler wakes up at 2am struggling with a cough or congestion.

  • Simple to use by breathing like normal to inhale the solution to allow it reach deep into your lungs

  • Can be used by anyone in the family, even babies!
